So, after my epiphany of keeping this blog more about writing and me, I did some research about what a new and unpublished author could possibly blog about. One of the websites I found suggested providing character sketches and since I gave a hint yesterday that three of the four characters are based on friends I went to high school with, I will give some details on one of them.
Lena is five-foot-four with short brown hair and brown eyes. Lena is portrayed after a high school classmate of the author. Lena was quite studious and serious most of high school. Someone, who we thought seemed to resemble Cinderella at home having to do all the chores and watch after her two younger sisters. Lena is responsible and makes sure we are safe on our hikes. She keeps a first aid kit in her backpack along with the other essentials like binoculars and water bottles. Lena grows some throughout the book and learns to stand up for herself and learns just how much she truly does mean to her parents.
There's a little tidbit on Lena. And as you read more about Lena in the book, you see why Cinderella is who we always felt she portrayed. This friend and I have not talked in many years and I have known her since the second grade. But when deciding who the characters would be for this book, she was high on the list. Not truly sure why because I personally always found her not only studious and serious, but judgmental as well. Whether she is like that today or not, I could not honestly tell you. I do know she is married with two beautiful daughters and lives in Minnesota.
