Hannah is 5’4” tall with long shoulder length brown hair. Her eyes are green and her favorite look is rolling those green eyes especially when Lena is being so matter-of-factly. Hannah is tailored after another high school friend of the author. They met in ninth grade during band. They both were in the clarinet section with an awesome band teacher who even let them have a Wipe Out (if you know the song – sorry not sorry that you just danced to it) day. The author has some pretty cool pics of this day.
Hannah is the only child of a factory worker and a teacher. Her house is large and has many rooms with two staircases. One in the front and one that leads to the kitchen. Hannah has her own car and the trunk is usually filled with all the swimming gear the girls need when they go out to the lake. Hannah doesn’t grow throughout the book as much as Lena does but she comes to realize that she doesn’t have that bad of a home life compared to her friends.
There’s a little bit about Hannah. And as you read more about Hannah in the book, you will see from her friends personal life, that hers isn’t too shabby. This friend and I have kept in touch over the years and were quite close once upon a time. I moved from our hometown and state and have been out of the loop. Since we all know that life gets in the way of things, this friend has always stood as strong to others while secretly falling apart. Her best accomplishment is having her three children and her friends close by to lean on.
